Abuja has everything from large late-night clubs and rooftop lounges to casual outdoor bars, live-music spots and neighbourhood joints. Most nightlife is concentrated around Wuse II, Maitama and Gwarinpa, with Friday through Sunday generally being the busiest nights.

A smaller cocktail and tapas bar that is better for conversation, dates and small groups than heavy clubbing. Music is generally kept at a level where you can still talk, with cocktails being the main attraction.

Not every Abuja night out needs to involve a nightclub. Across Wuse, Garki, Gwarinpa, Jabi and other neighbourhoods you will find outdoor bars, gardens, grills, suya spots, football-viewing centres and small local joints.
These are often where you get a more everyday Abuja experience: cold drinks, grilled fish or suya, Afrobeats, football and groups of friends sitting outdoors late into the evening. Ask your hotel, driver or a local resident what is currently busy nearby, as neighbourhood favourites change quickly.
