What we take money for, and what we do not.
VisitAbuja is free to read. Producing it — the photography, the research, the writing, the events calendar — costs money, and that money comes from partnerships with businesses and organisations in and around Abuja.
This page explains what those arrangements are, how you can tell when you are looking at one, and what they do not buy.
What is paid for
Some listings and articles on this site are paid partnerships. A hotel, restaurant, tour operator, event or brand may pay to be featured on a guide page, to have an event promoted, or to have a piece written about them.
Anything paid for is labelled as sponsored or as a partner feature, clearly, on the page itself. If you are reading something and there is no label, nobody paid for it.
What money does not buy
A partnership buys presence. It does not buy praise, and it does not buy silence.
We do not remove an honest assessment because a partner asked us to. We do not describe a hotel, a restaurant or an event as something it is not. We do not sell positions in rankings or “best of” lists, and a business that has never paid us a naira can and does appear above one that has.
If a partner has a bad year, it will read the same as anyone else with a bad year.
Recommendations and links
Ordinary recommendations, listings and links across the site are editorial. We include a venue’s website or social account so you can reach it, not because we are paid per click.
If we ever introduce affiliate or commission-earning links, they will be disclosed on this page and marked where they appear, before they go live.
The events calendar
Events are listed because they are happening in Abuja and travellers might want to know. Listing an event is free.
Promoted placement — a feature slot, a homepage position, a written preview — can be paid for, and is labelled when it is.
Photography
Photographs on this site are either our own, licensed, or supplied by the venue or organiser. Supplied images are used with permission. If you believe an image has been used incorrectly, tell us and we will take it down while we check.
