Updated October 2026. Weekly nights, prices and opening hours in Abuja change often, so check the venue’s Instagram before you head out.

Abuja’s lounges are where most nights out start, and plenty of them never end anywhere else. The trick is knowing which lounge suits the mood you’re in. Some are built for live jazz and slow R&B, some turn into Afrobeats parties after midnight, and a few are better for a quiet cocktail and a proper conversation.

This guide sorts the city’s best lounges by vibe and by night of the week, so you can pick a place for a Monday jazz session as easily as a Saturday party. Most of them are in Wuse 2, with a few in Maitama and the Central Business District. To compare all 40-plus bars, lounges and clubs in one place, use the filters on our nightlife guide.

Best lounges for jazz, R&B and live music

Bar Yucca, Central Business District

A rooftop bar-lounge on top of Ceddi Plaza on Tafawa Balewa Road, with an outdoor terrace and sunset views over the city centre. It is one of the few places in Abuja with a regular jazz night: Monday is live jazz, Wednesday is an Afro House night with 2-for-1 cocktails and Thursday is the “Strictly R&B” singalong, with Fridays running late. Food is a mix of Nigerian and grill favourites, from suya sandwiches and jerk chicken burgers to seafood okro. Budget around ₦20,000–₦30,000 per person.

Capital Bar, Transcorp Hilton, Maitama

The Hilton’s bar has live music most of the week: salsa on Wednesday, “Own the Mic” karaoke on Thursday, a live band on Friday, jazz night on Saturday and a live band on Sunday, all from around 7pm. It is polished and a little pricier, with bar food like peppered prawns, asun and suya. Big screens make it a good football spot too.

Gusto, Wuse 2

A premium restaurant with a rooftop bar. Its Sunday R&B champagne brunch makes it a good choice for a slow Sunday afternoon. Come for the food as much as the music.

Jéjé, Wuse 2

An upscale restaurant-bar in Cappador Galaxy on Aminu Kano Crescent with an Afro-jazz soundtrack, shisha and Nigerian twists on cocktails, including ogogoro and palm-wine drinks. Monday to Wednesday has unlimited cocktails from 5 to 8pm, Friday is a masquerade party with drummers and DJs play on Saturdays.

Eko in Abuja, Central Business District

A relaxed restaurant-lounge on Tafawa Balewa Road with a live band on Sunday and karaoke on Friday. The food is very Nigerian (fisherman soup and seafood rice are favourites), prices are friendlier than most places on this list, and it stays open late.

Best lounges for Afrobeats and DJ nights

If you want to dance, Wuse 2 is where to be, especially Adetokunbo Ademola Crescent and Aminu Kano Crescent. Most of these get going after 11pm and are busiest on Fridays and Saturdays.

  • Hustle & Bustle (Aminu Kano Crescent): a restaurant, outdoor lounge and big nightclub in one. Dressed-up crowd, bottle service and very busy weekends.
  • Oso Lounge (Sunset Place, Adetokunbo Ademola Crescent): upscale lounge with DJs and shisha. Wednesday is party night and Thursday is ladies’ night.
  • Play Imperial (Adetokunbo Ademola Crescent): DJ-led nightclub open Thursday to Saturday. Fridays get packed.
  • The Caribbean Lounge (Oti Carpet Plaza, Wuse 2): Caribbean-themed party lounge with outdoor seating and several DJ sets a night, heavy on Afrobeats.
  • Rhapsody’s (Aminu Kano Crescent): dinner first, then the DJs take over the rooftop lounge.
  • Kristos Club (109 Plaza, Adetokunbo Ademola Crescent): for a properly late night, with DJs and a big sound system from 10pm on Wednesdays and Friday to Sunday.

Best for salsa and Latin nights

  • Barracuda Resto Pub (Adetokunbo Ademola Crescent): the go-to for salsa, with after-work salsa classes and socials on Tuesday and Thursday and a Salsa Fiesta on Saturday.
  • Tipsy (Alero House, Aminu Kano Crescent): Sunday is salsa night with free lessons, so it is a good first try for beginners. Thursday has unlimited cocktails with free tacos.
  • Capital Bar, Transcorp Hilton: salsa on Wednesday evenings.

Best for karaoke

  • Eko in Abuja: Friday karaoke from 7:30pm.
  • Sofa Lounge (Adetokunbo Ademola Crescent): karaoke on Tuesday and Wednesday from 7pm.
  • Zaya & Ryan’s (63 Mall, Wuse 2): Thursday karaoke at a rooftop sports bar.
  • Barracuda Resto Pub: regular karaoke nights.
  • Capital Bar: “Own the Mic” karaoke on Thursday at the Hilton.

Best rooftops and sundowner spots

Abuja sunsets are worth planning around, especially in the dry season. Arrive around 5:30 to 6pm for the light.

  • Bar Yucca: sunset views over the city centre from Ceddi Plaza.
  • Lupita: a rooftop sundowner spot with sharing platters and mezze.
  • The Terrace Lounge (Elegante Mall, Wuse 2): city views and DJs that build through the evening, open daily from 5pm.
  • Zaya & Ryan’s: rooftop sports bar with lots of photo spots and one of the pricier menus.
  • Gusto: rooftop bar above one of Wuse 2’s smarter restaurants.

Best for a chilled night or a date

  • Guava Cocktail and Tapas Bar: small, with music low enough to talk over and good small plates.
  • Jéjé: Afro-jazz, shisha and creative Nigerian cocktails.
  • A Bar Called Paper (Maitama): a design-led bar-lounge, open Thursday to Sunday.
  • Speakeasy (10 Kolda Link Street, Wuse 2): a 1920s Prohibition-themed lounge with DJs, open Thursday to Sunday until 4am.
  • Sugar Cocktail Bar (Kolda Link Street): a cocktail-focused restaurant-bar.

Tips for a night out in Abuja

  • Book a table on Fridays and Saturdays. The popular lounges fill up, and tables at clubs often come with a minimum spend.
  • Dress smart-casual. Most lounges and clubs expect it.
  • Things start late. Lounges get busy from about 9 or 10pm, and clubs often don’t peak until after midnight.
  • Use ride-hailing at night and agree a meeting point, as Wuse 2 traffic and parking get chaotic at weekends. Read our guide to common scams in Abuja before a late night out.
  • Check Instagram before you go. Weekly nights move around, and most venues post the week’s line-up on their page.
